Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our district educates approximately two hundred fifty residential and day students in kindergarten through grade twelve who have emotional, behavioral, and learning problems. Most students reside here and live in cottages with an array of different staff members supporting them.

The computer lab is open to students in grades kindergarten through twelve.

Our classroom is designed to attract all ages and has a very warm and welcoming atmosphere of happiness to it when you enter. We try to keep a peaceful environment. Lessons are tailored to each student's ability and most often, one-on-one instruction is necessary.

My Project

I teach one section of gym class on Mondays at an all boys residential treatment campus. It would be nice to surprise my small class of boys with their very own package of socks! They see me in the computer lab all day and not really engaged or into our gym class. I thought I was supervising the gym teacher, but instead I am the teacher and giving out grades! There 55 in grades were accidentally submitted due to confusion as to who the teacher was and who was suppose to be giving out the grades.

I want to make it up to my students and show them that I care about the gym class that I was assigned to.

I want to surprise the small class with their very own package of socks! Not only will they feel like I care, but I bet no other teacher has ever given them a holiday gift before! It's going to be a nice surprise and these boys deserve it.
