Our school is a Title I school with a low socio-economic and transient population. 99% of the children receive free/reduced-price lunch. Students are provided food bags for the weekends. The school has a family resource center to support families.
Many of our students are faced with social and emotional instability situations but in spite of this, they are excited and eager to learn.
My Project
I have 15 I-pads /tablets in my classroom available to my students at any time needed. If I could get 5 more, that means one for every student! No taking turns, because come on, you know how that goes! We had a two day staff development at the beginning of this school year where I was filled with tons of amazing, educational, apps and internet resources but haven't been able to fully implement due to lack of one:one devices.
These 5 tablets and headphones would take my teaching and ultimately the students' learning to a whole new level.
Wi-fi hot spots have been added to several places throughout the community during this quarantine time. However, many of our students do not have access to technology devices. More devices would allow us to have plenty enough to let students check out the devices for periods of time. They would then be able to have access to my lessons posted online and complete educational activities, such as our phonics program where they can manipulate letters to make words, as well as catch up on letter sounds they may not have learned. I (and my students) would appreciate any donation that you could give!
