My Students

They are amazing and inspiring young people who selected our urban public school because they connect with its "green" mission and our small, family-like environment. One unique aspect of our school is that we proudly serve students with disabilities -- including students with severe disabilities in our "learning for Independence" program and students with moderate disabilities in inclusion settings. All in all, 32% of our school's young people are students with disabilities.

Our student body reflects the demographics of the public school population of the city of Boston: 82% are living at or below the federal poverty line; 54% are African American, 31% are Hispanic, and 12% are English-language learners.

My Project

It was bound to happen - after years of reliable, uninterrupted service, my projector has shuffled off this mortal coil. Without my projector the pacing of my class falls apart - I cannot show students their progress during independent reading time, I cannot project poetry for annotation, and I cannot show clips from the slam poets that are the cornerstones of my absolute favorite unit.

A reliable, portable projector will help me deliver content that is as incisive and and interesting as my students.

It will also enable me to keep the pacing quick, lively, and inspiring.
