Wanted: Portable Printing Calculators for Business Students on the Move
Help me give my students portable printing calculators and a mobile laptop cart to establish skills of operating office equipment and to create a mobile learning environment.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Thank you for reviewing my DonorsChoose.org project. I teach high school students in rural South Carolina. At this point, my students are taking courses that will hopefully pique their interest in their future careers. It is my goal to give them real-world experiences related to accounting and entrepreneurship. I also like to teach students how this information can be applied to their personal finances. My students are eager to learn key concepts about the business world to use personally and professionally. Most of them choose to enroll in more advanced business courses before they graduate.
My students constantly demonstrate a strong work ethic and responsibility to learn more.
They show a great interest in knowing how a business operates. They are very knowledgeable about the use of technology related to games and cell phones, but they are also interested in learning how to use workplace technology. My students want to take ownership of the skills they learn to enhance their future.
My Project
My students need to know how to operate office equipment to be successful in the business world. The portable calculators and the laptop cart allows us to create many opportunities to adopt various (contextual, just-in-time, participatory, and personalized) methods of learning. Students will be able to move freely within the classroom to learn and master the skills and concepts presented daily. These portable printing calculators will help students solve accounting problems presented through real-life simulations and check their work for accuracy. Although, most businesses use computerized software individuals most know how to input accurate data into the computer to receive accurate output. This project will help me transform how students learn and how they are prepared for the future.
