My students need King Series book bundle for first grade, and nonfiction guided reading collections to become proficient readers.
Do you remember the first time you read a book independently? My students are just beginning to discover books that they can read on their own. They are just beginning to develop their reading skills.
My students attend a Title I school where most students receive free or reduced lunch.
They live in an impoverished inner-city neighborhood, where crime is high and high school graduation rates are low. They don't have much at home, yet they come to school exited and ready to learn. My students enjoy reading and listening to books. They love borrowing books from the school library and trading books with one another. They also enjoy reading to one another and acting out their favorite parts of a story.
My students need the King Series books, and leveled books. These invaluable resources will be used during small group instruction to target specific reading skills needed to become proficient readers. With the use of these books students will learn grade level skills such as one to one correspondence, the alphabetic principal, and basic decoding skills. These books will not only provide my students with the opportunity to receive reading instruction at their instructional level, but will also it will provide an opportunity for them to read books at an independent level.
Please help my students become lifelong readers by providing them with the resources requested.
The King Series books and leveled readers will provide for my students the necessary tools to be successful readers and lifelong learners.
