Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
How many languages did you learn in elementary school? My students are currently learning how to read, write, and speak in English and Spanish in the Dual Language Immersion program.
Between my two classes, I have over 44 students who spend half of their day with me learning in English and they spend the other half of the day in Spanish.
In class, diversity is something that is valued. The students are engulfed in many different cultures and learn to understand and respect other ways of life. My students come from various parts of the world and a majority of them are learning English as a second language. Our school is a Title I school, which means many of the students come from low-income living situations. Over 90% of our school is on free or reduced lunch. However, these students don't let their background hold them back. They have a thirst for knowledge and want to make a better future for themselves.
My Project
At my school, teachers have to provide classroom materials for their students. Therefore, I am asking for some essential supplies: crayons and colored pencils. The cost quickly adds up for these education basics. The students need these items in order to help them complete assignments and projects. Our assignments range from writing, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, math activities assignments. Furthermore, we do various activities with science and social studies.
Donations to this project will help out the class by ensuring we have the basic tools for learning and exploring.
We will use the supplies with our writing, math, spelling and every day learning.
