This year, I moved from third grade to first grade. I have an amazing group of first graders. I am looking forward to instilling a love of reading at a younger age in hopes of creating life long lovers of reading and learning. They are so full of energy and so excited about this new adventure we are embarking on, their first grade year! I love to see the learning excitement in their eyes each and every day!
My students are so eager to learn!
They take each new lesson as an opportunity to grow and become "super smart." You can help but feel their excitement.
My students have been studying the world around us by reading lots of great nonfiction books. They are using these books not only to read, but also to practice solving unknown words. We have a class full of many levels of readers, and I have quickly realized that the number of books that i need for my lower level students is lacking.
These books will allow my students to learn at their level and feel successful.
Right now, many of them are trying their best to struggle through words that are just too hard. These books will allow them to practice the necessary reading skills to become better readers, while at the same time beginning to develop some comprehension skills.
