My Students

My students are learning how to navigate their worlds virtually. They are curious about how numbers relate to their lives and how they can connect what they learn in class to their lives outside of school. They are learning to take risks in math, and learning that through making mistakes, our brains grow!

My Project

My school-provided laptop is at least 5 years old and is not equipped for virtual education. I've been using the family laptop since remote learning started, but it is slow, and my son needs it for his virtual education. I feel badly taking it from him for work, so having a dedicated laptop for school would not only be helping my students and colleagues, but also my son!

A modern laptop will let me teach my students a love of math, without disruptions due to slow technology!

I'll be able to conduct our live class meetings and load programs or slides to give students a better, more engaging math class in this virtual setting. Having a touchscreen will help even more because I'd be able to address students' immediate needs and provide real-time examples for their specific questions.

A new laptop would actually impact students beyond my classroom. We have weekly content meetings in which I collaborate with the other math teachers in my school, to brainstorm ideas to help all students in math. It would help me collaborate with them more efficiently without the troublesome lag issues that I am currently encountering.
