This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are part of a stage crew I have been working on developing over the last few years. They are interested in stage design, lighting, and sound but have had limited opportunities to develop these interests due to COVID-19. I would like to have some materials on hand for when we return to school.
I have acquired various lights, hand tools, and materials in the last few years and when I bring these materials in for the students to handle and create with, they absolutely light up.
Students that would otherwise skip classes or tune out are asking questions, engaging in conversations with their peers, and begging to spend more time on the stage.
My students are grateful for opportunities to learn through hands-on and real-world experiences that the stage crew offers them.
My Project
The microphones will allow my students the ability to move about our stage for a future musical. Currently, we are running older wired microphones that do not allow students to be heard in all areas of the stage.
The new wireless mics would take away the fear of the student actors from tripping on cords and mic stands, and allow them to focus on their lines.
The new microphones will also help us get out of the 1970s era and into the 2000s. The students will increase their confidence by being heard with the mics being on them at all times.
