We are a inner city charter school with a high poverty rate where a majority of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch. My students are aspiring artists who not only strive to succeed academically but push themselves to try new things and be leaders in their community.
Our school prepares our students to be leaders and innovators as they explore our arts integrated curriculum.
My students show a strong passion for dance expressing their individuality through movement. Dance gives them the opportunity to be themselves, explore movement in a safe environment and provide an outlet to cope with their day-to-day struggles as well as teaching grace, poise and self discipline which will enhance their future.
My Project
Being able to provide jazz shoes for our students is like giving them the key to success in the dance world. Giving the comfort and safety to students feet, allows them to quickly advanced in their dance technique as well as progress in gaining confidence and a sense of grace while dancing.
Giving the gift of Jazz shoes makes a school dance program transform into a young company of artists.
Since the beginning of the school term my students have been coming to class excited to learn, be challenged, and create together -- jazz shoes are the next step towards meeting dance goals.
