As a teacher of students in low income/single-parent family homes, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. They like to move, they love to read and love lots of positive attention. The students in my classroom have a range of different abilities.
Living in low income/single-parent family homes may prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may deprive them of life experiences many of us see as "typical".
From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.
My Project
Babies enjoy walks just as much as we do. There are many benefits to taking babies outdoors for a walk. Even a walk around the block can be a fantastic trip for my students. Walks give them endless possibilities and stimulate their minds.
With this stroller we can put on our walking shoes and take these babies outside for a walk!
Walking outside gives the baby an opportunity to explore the world. Every sight, sound, and smell provides the baby with valuable experiences and learning. Different seasons provide different opportunities for the baby. The changing color of the trees, the different flowers and birds that can be seen, even the differences in warmth and coolness that the baby experiences.
