This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We are a quaint little school in a neighborhood that feels like a small town in a big city.
At our school, classes are small and everyone is treated like family.
The majority of students come from low-income households and have limited resources, yet we have an extremely active PTA. We take great pride in the level of parental involvement at our school. My students are bright and engaged. They have a love of school and have a love of learning.
My Project
Our classroom needs a vibrant rug for whole group activities. We need a place to gather for Morning Meeting, large group activities, projects, and partner work.
We'll be walking on sunshine with this bright and cheerful rug!
I want a rug that offers students a defined space. I love that kids have an opportunity to stand in the center of the rug and shine! I plan to make the 'N' and 'O' my seat on the rug and the 'H' and 'I' the spot for our visiting guests. I can tell the students that my spot says "No" and the spot for visitors says "Hi". Please help make this rug the perfect addition to our classroom.
