The kindergartners in my classroom come from a wide range of life experiences; some are from very traditional two-parent working families, others may be from single-parent homes, and some are immigrants from other continents. The one thing that links them is their love of learning! My kindergartners are full of questions, excitement, and enthusiasm! They can't wait to learn and are ready to share their learning with others. Through classroom meetings, social skills lessons, modeling, and practice, we have blended into one big classroom family.
Kindergartners are excited to learn and are happy to support each other in their learning.
They cheer for each other's successes and sympathize when there are struggles. They are learning critical social skills to use as they grow.
My Project
I strive to incorporate new literature in our daily readings. Kindergarten students are excited to learn about new cultures, places, and events. My job is to teach them how to ask questions, and make decisions for themselves, rather than teach them what to think.
Students love seeing characters that mirror their life, and students benefit from seeing characters that are windows into other cultures or other lives.
Providing new current literature is one of the most important ways to keep the students asking questions and learning. Books allow current students and future students the opportunity to learn.
