Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"The Greatest Wealth is Health." The students at my school need help to discovering that living an active lifestyle is not only fun, but leads to a longer, healthier life!
These elementary students are extremely inquisitive and open-minded about the world.
They attend a large public elementary school in an urban community in Massachusetts. Even though they may not have much at home, we try to provide them with every opportunity and experience that we can while at school. We hope that the experiences at school will carry over and influence their behavior outside of the building.
My Project
Our school began taking part in a weekly "Walk-It Wednesday". Each Wednesday students meet different staff members and students at pick up locations in the neighborhood and walk to school safely. In order to increase the number of students who start their day in a healthy way, we want to offer an incentive. We would like to offer students an opportunity to continue their healthy living by winning a bike or scooter along with a helmet.
Developing a healthy lifestyle begins at a very young age.
Setting students up with healthy habits and positive self image will make all the difference as they mature! Feeling good about the healthy choices they make can have a great impact on their success in the future.
