This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Walking into a classroom on the first day of school is a magical experience - if the classroom is set up well. Help make our classroom a warm and inviting place to learn on the first day of school!
My students attend a low-income high needs middle school in Missouri.
Although our students are excited about the beginning of the year, transitioning from summer into the year can be very challenging. One way to help them is to start the year off in a welcoming environment where students can get excited about what they will do that year. This is especially important in my social studies classroom, where students envision the class as being full of boring historical details.
My Project
Each of the supplies listed will help create a warm and inviting environment for my Social Studies Scholars. Bulletin Board supplies offer an engaging, text-rich room that can preview new material and review skills the students already know. Labels and paper help me communicate to students how to keep their materials organized. Finally, sentence strips will help us organize the classroom and list our goals for the year on the wall.
Social Studies is important because it teaches students not just history, but also how to think complexly about the world they live in.
This can only happen if students are dedicated when they walk into the room. Creating a warm and inviting class environment is the best way to ensure that we get off to the right start. Thanks so much for your support!
