My Students
The students in my integrated classroom are all wonderful and eager to learn.
Our school is a Title I school which has nearly one thousand students from various and similar backgrounds.
The majority of our students are struggling to receive the best education possible while dealing with the circumstances of living in a poor and overcrowded school district.
A typical day in my integrated collaborative teaching classrooms can be very demanding. I am constantly on my feet all day. My days are spent constantly reteaching and redirecting my students' behaviours, collaborating and co-teaching to meet the academic needs of each student and giving out rewards.
My Project
I am requesting writing and editing supplies and Sheet Protectors. The biggest challenge in helping to change the lives of my students is the lack of money or resources to buy well-needed classroom materials especially editing tools such as highlighters and Sheet Protector. They will use the highlighters in all subject areas from classroom assignments like the writing process to take home assignments to complete and return the next day in the Sheet Protectors. I believe that "Empowering Students" is extremely essential in developing my students' critical thinking skills. My students very often must illustrate his or her own thinking on a given writing assignment.
My wonderful students will use the materials to support them in progressing towards meeting the common core standards.
Some of those areas include writing in reading literacy, math, informational writing and completing reading responses to be career and college ready.
