The quote "A metaphor is like a simile" by an unknown author can apply in my class. In 4th grade we have many standards related to word analysis and vocab that it can be tough to distinguish one from the other. In order to decipher synonyms from antonyms, and metaphors from similes , we need help.
My students are fun, respectful, trustworthy, and intelligent fourth graders.
They love to learn and want to learn in a manner that is exciting. They attend a school that has high test scores but is labeled as high poverty. My students will work as hard as they can to obtain success. Twenty out of twenty-eight students scored proficient or advanced on the California Standards Test during the 2010-2011 school year. They are students who do not settle for anything less than great.
My Project
These word analysis and vocabulary activities will help my students learn the language arts standards that are required in a fun, exciting, and different fashion. It will allow myself as a teacher to think outside of the textbook and allow my students to create hands-on projects. Each activity teaches a critical standard which fourth graders need to master by the end of the year. By teaching these word analysis and vocabulary standards in a fun, creative, and hands-on method, my students will achieve written and oral language success.
My students are awesome students who deserve to take part in hands-on, creative language arts activities which will encourage their written and oral language growth.
It will help them to become great writers which is crucial for the upcoming grades (as well as life) ahead. It will allow them to speak properly which is important in life as well. Please help us improve our language arts skills so that we can become great, upstanding citizens in the community.
