Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a 3rd grade teacher at a Title 1 school. In order to raise our math scores, I have volunteered to help tutor our 3rd grade students during their track break.
Our low poverty community has not been given much of an opportunity to participate in educational classes. The economy has prevented teachers in supplying the needs to reach those students who need hands-on manipulatives.
Our district is struggling in areas, such as measurement and geometry. This is our opportunity to reach students who need that extra push to succeed!
This instructor will use the protractors to help students measure different angles. The students will use vis a vis markers to illustrate angles on the overhead projector.
The instructor will use the teacher thermometer to describe different temperatures from around the world, and comparing with our city. The classroom set of thermometers will enable students to model along with the teacher, and physically express their results.
The students will be able to use the mini clocks to interpret elapsed time. Some students have a difficultly mentally picturing elapsed time by using the classroom clock. The mini clocks will help the students to comprehend, communicate, and estimate different times of the day and night.
The instructor will construct a lesson using the measuring jars. Students will have the ability to have that hands-on activity to learn the different measurements of gallon, quarts, and pints.
Your donation will make it possible for our students to have the hands-on activities, working in a small group environment.
This instructor will begin a project on water gauging. The students will extend their knowledge on chilled, room, and outdoor temperatures. We will use the measuring jars, as well as the thermometers to define the different degrees of water. I will use as many supplies, provided to me, for each lesson on measurement and geometry.
