Our school just celebrated its 150th anniversary this year. We are the oldest school in our school district. We are a ninth to twelfth grade school with over fifteen hundred students. Our school is very diverse. We have students who are refugees, homeless, LGBTQ, DCD and in special education. We have special programs and we attract students from all over the city who come to take our advanced classes. We have Advanced Placement, CIS College in Schools, IB Diploma and PSEO for our students. We are a Title I building. We have our own news channel that airs every morning to our student body. We have over thirty different languages spoken in our students' homes. We are a seventy-five percent free or reduced-price lunch school.
Students love to learn at our school.
I am proud to be a staff member and to be able to advocate for our students and their needs.
My Project
Volleyballs are needed in our equipment room. We do a volleyball unit that is two weeks long and we need volleyballs to help teach and play the unit. Our volleyballs are old, torn, won't blow up anymore, and unusable in our equipment room.
Students enjoy playing volleyball as one of our units in Physical Education.
I bought ones that are blue and black so we know that they are for the Physical Education classroom and not the volleyball teams or anyone else's here at the school. We have volleyball which is a sport here in the fall that many girls play. Being able to teach volleyball in Physical Education helps draw students to the volleyball team.
