My amazing students range in grades K-6. They are general education students and also receive special education support instruction by me. Each of these bright students are challenged to keep up with their peers academically but may have fallen behind. Many of my students have been identified with a specific learning disability, often dyslexia. Although some of them struggle with reading, writing, and math skills, they are motivated to be the best they can be and persevere through the day to day challenges they face.
My students are counting on me to provide them intensive instruction and intervention to help them achieve grade-level standards just like their peers.
They work hard to fit in with everyone else, but their learning challenges sometimes put obstacles in their way. Working with these students each day consists of so much more than just academic instruction. Helping these students believe in themselves is a part of that road to success.
My students attend a high poverty, diverse, elementary school with high success rate. Many students are English learners, which also increases the challenges they face in school. We need to provide them with the materials to maximize their potential.
My Project
My students need quality headphones with a built-in microphone to support their voice typing. The headsets we have are flimsy and the microphones no longer work. They were not constructed for use with students. We need headsets that will last longer and are able to withstand the use by a variety of students. These headsets will support my students learning to voice type their papers which helps my students with dyslexia or writing difficulties complete their writing assignments. My students need headsets with microphones that can block out external noise so they can use them in a classroom with other students making noise.
