My students need these theater scripts because we are getting ready to create an opera, we will write it, paint the scenery, choose our own costumes and write all the songs for our opera.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The first book I remember reading is Box Car Children. I read it to my students every year. Shows how you can overcome everything, my students are from very low SES, I want them to see they can survive anything.
My students live in a very low SES economy, most of them are from parents who are still learning the language.
I do readers theaters and operas to help them enjoy the concept of reading and bringing arts into the Curriculum. The students do not have many a lot of background knowledge to help them understand things. Doing readers theater creates a base for them to understand things in a very easy way. I am a first grade teacher and they are just learning how to read. It is interesting to see them grow throughout the year.
My Project
I have requested Reader Theater scripts. Students do not even realize that they are learning as they are reading the scripts because it is so much fun for them it also helps them with public speaking. This is so critical for students who never get the chance to be in front of people. Readers theater is a safe environment for them to mess up and maybe even laugh at themselves while learning to read, public speak. and learn to share their talents.
This project is going to change the lives of many of my students by learning to read while having fun.
We have them create their own scenery behind them, sometimes they come all dressed up in their character. It is a fun way for them to learn to read without them even realizing it.
