Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am writing this proposal for my high school students who participate in our music program. Our high school serves a large urban area and has a high percentage of students from low income homes. Many of my students do not have the opportunity to experience high quality music instruction outside of the school setting. It is exciting to see them grow in their knowledge and excitement of music. Many of them will continue their participation in the music program for multiple years.
My Project
My vocal music students are working on a variety of high level music for various choral activities in the next few months. They will be participating in solo and ensemble contests at the city and state level. Many of them are working on standard art song and opera arias in foreign languages such as French, German, and Italian.
We are asking for a classroom set of earphones so they can practice their language and music skills in the classroom setting.
Students are proved with different ways to practice their music. They have access to audio and video files that help them with language acquisition, difficult rhythms, and harmonies. Giving them access to these kinds of learning opportunities help them learn at their current level of ability at their own pace. This will create a dynamic learning atmosphere where students will be able to learn address the specific music challenges related to their own repertoire using various tools available to them.
