This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
“The difference between the right word and the almost right word is the difference between lightning and a lightning bug” ~ Mark Twain
My students attend a Montessori magnet program within a public school district.
Our school is an inner city school with a high population of students and families that receive free or reduced price lunch. I work with students in preschool through 8th grade who have speech and language delays. Many of my students have limited vocabularies, which impact how they understand classroom information and share their own thoughts and stories.
My Project
My students are excited to share their stories and experiences! These materials will help them build their vocabulary and language skills in order to do so. We will use these materials to increase understanding and use of new and complex vocabulary, to increase understanding of written and verbal stories, and to tell our own stories. We need vocabulary builders, dry erase boards and story comprehension support.
Communication impacts children everywhere they go.
Your support will help my students succeed and build confidence both in the classroom and on the playground. Please help us build our language skills!
