My students need binders and the large white self stick flip chart paper for group projects to show off their great work! Then calculators for Geometry and Algebra II.
Many of my students have not succeeded in a traditional high school and have struggled academically and/or socially. At our small school, they receive a ton of support as they work towards graduation. The main struggles are around behavior, anxiety, and depression. We are a blended learning program that focuses not only on their education, but on their social emotional learning as well. Many of our students wish they would have started here earlier and I'm so proud of the growth I see every day!
My Project
The binders will help my students learn how to become more organized, which is an important skill to learn before graduating. It will also teach them responsibility of taking care of it.
The flip chart paper will be a great resource when students are working in groups, and since they are sticky, their work can be hung up in the room and hallways for other students to see!
The calculators are necessary to find patterns quickly and compute complicated solutions to real-life problems. When my students have the right materials, they are able to focus better on the learning necessary for them to be successful in math class.
