Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach early US History and Geography at a Title I inner city school in south Oklahoma City. The school serves a minority community of Hispanic-Americans.

My young students are hungry for the knowledge that will help them to become better American citizens and recognize the importance being good global citizens, as well.

Their English speaking, writing and reading skills vary widely, but does not diminish their desire to learn.

I absolutely love their enthusiasm and willingness to learn about our history and the world they live in.

My Project

My classroom does not have a smart board nor can the school provide one. I do have a laptop connected to an off center wall mounted flat screen TV.

Not all of my students can easily see the TV making it difficult and frustrating for them when viewing power points and videos.

I frequently have students move from their desks to set on the floor in front of the TV to better see the presentations. Having to do this makes note taking frustrating and increases classroom management challenges.

Student learning would be significantly enhanced by using a video projector and pull down screen.
