Ms. Malone from Oklahoma City OK is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a way to visually engage them in the classroom. A Mimio system is an excellent way to bring Interactive Whiteboard technology into my class.

Have you ever tried to demonstrate a mathematical concept to a room full of students? Shown them an interactive website when there are a limited computers in the room? Or have you just had something cool to share to visually pique their interest in the day's lesson?
We are a small school with one class per grade level.
Because of our size in relation to others in our district, funding cuts hit us a little harder. The technology in our school is limited to a few computers in each class and a mobile lab that all grade levels have to share. Two of our classes have interactive whiteboards. I have taught students using this technology, and the excitement is almost palpable when we share concepts and ideas together. We are a Title I school, with about 85% of our population qualifying for free/reduced lunches.
Due to the lower financial backgrounds of our students, not many are afforded a lot of varied experiences - especially with technology. Any time I bring in something from home (an iPad, a Nook, a Flip camera, etc.), it is like Christmas morning. The students have an increased desire to participate in the activity. They want to discover how to use the technology. Having an interactive whiteboard in the classroom will enable the students to have daily technology interaction. In my classroom over the years, I have learned that most students are visual learners in some capacity. Having the means to use an interactive whiteboard during the lessons will enable these visual learners to better comprehend and apply their new knowledge.
Having a Mimio Interactive Whiteboard in my class is a cost effective way to maximize and incorporate this technology for my kiddos.
For many of them, this will be their first experience with the interactive technology. It will give them the opportunity that they definitely deserve!
