Help me give my students a Samsung 55" TV and 2 Apple iPads for our classroom, to connect to their fellow classmates, and to make them successful in this learning environment.
Distance learning can be hard, but not impossible. I teach my classes onsite, in a charter school for 2nd grade, and there is 15 of us, plus the teacher. We are a combination of many ethnicities, but we share one common goal, which is to perpetuate the Hawaiian culture as well as the Hawaiian language. The amount of students in the class is small, which means teachers, such as myself, are able to get to know all the students individually, as well as their families.
Distance learning created a challenge for my students, however, they are creative, eager to dive into the lesson, loves hands-on activities, and immerse themselves in any kind of challenge head on.
They are able to complete tasks given and really dive in to the homework or the lesson of the day. Even though distance learning is hard, especially during this time, we try our best with the technologies as well and utilizing different tools such as seesaw for a more convenient way for the student as well as the teachers.
My Project
All of my students wants to learn, and they really love the interaction between one another other than looking at everyone through a computer. As of now, my school has decided to bring in certain vulnerable students who are having a hard time learning at home. These materials such as a TV are necessary as well as beneficial, as it will help to benefit their online learning through zoom, where I can display the homework for them to see. Even more so, I will be able to utilize these materials such as a TV to display certain homework and to watch certain educational videos pertaining about the lesson once we return face to face.
One of my goals for my students, is for them to become independent with their learning, which is the reason for our use of seesaw.
Materials such as Apple iPads will help to benefit their learning as well as their strengthening to becoming an independent student; in submitting their homework as well as taking control of their learning. Those students who are learning at the school, will also be able to utilize these materials in order to independently turn in their haʻawina. Even more so, materials such as Apple iPads will be utilized in classroom activities during group projects as well as providing a way of collecting data that they are able to share with the whole class by displaying it on the t.v.
