Hello, I am a K-12 Art Teacher at a low income school in the state of Wisconsin. Our district populates just under 400 students from Pre-Kindergarten to 12th Grade, with just under 50% of our district families are at an economic disadvantage. As budgets in the district are tight and getting smaller the challenge for modern technology integration within a curriculum becomes more constricted each passing year. While students heavily rely on modern day technology, the need for it is essential in the classroom setting.
Students are our future, and our future involves modern day technology.
My Project
If the project is fully funded, students will be able to use virtual reality throughout many classes within the district, classes such as: Visual Arts, Science, and History.
Within the Visual Arts, students will have the ability to paint their own virtual world!
This takes a two dimensional medium and turns it into a three dimensional medium. Just like using a video game character to explore a gaming world, students would be able to explore and virtually be in their own created world. It's like they are in a video game, but one they created!
Within the history programs, students will have the ability to go on virtual field trips. For example, they can take a virtual visit to Rome or explore catacombs. Students can be in Apollo 11 as it launches and can control Apollo 11 as it lands on the moon!
Within the science program, students would be able to virtually explore the human body. Students can immerse themselves into the brain and see how synapses work, as well as have a three-dimensional body to explore and understand all elements of the human body.
