Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school qualifies as a Title I School with over 85% of our students living in poverty. This means that our funds are limited for teaching supplies. Our school also has the highest Hispanic population in the state. In fact, over 65% of our students are English Language Learners. Many of these students are still learning how to speak English. Through all that they face, they walk into the classroom ready to try their best and learn something new. My students are truly amazing.
My Project
All of my students are English Language Learners, visual learners, or a combination of both. The addition of a document camera to our classroom will allow me to meet the needs of my students better by supplementing their learning with a variety of visual aids. The camera will allow my students to view texts, documents, and student work on screen, enhancing their learning experience.
Students love to share their work with and learn from each other!
With the document camera, students will be able to proudly share their work with ease. Students often use journals and notebooks to solve problems, write papers, and answer questions. With the camera, the students will be able to demonstrate their problem-solving skills with their peers.
This document camera will promote collaboration amongst students. It will allow me to pair all of my verbal instruction with visual examples, for every subject. Most importantly, the camera will provide each student with a sense of pride in their work. I can already see them eagerly shaking their hands in the air, hoping they'll be chosen next to present their work.
