This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach in a Title I school in North Carolina, and many of my students are at-risk of academic failure. This is many of my students' first time in a school setting. The early learners in my class are more interested in the process of discovering and manipulating materials than the final products of their experiments.
Learning experiences are meaningful and relevant for every child and reflect his or her developmental, cultural, and individual circumstances.
My students love to move and be active. However, because of recent budget cuts, we are unable to purchase additional resources such as the ones requested.
My Project
My classroom received a printer to use in our daily classroom work. We now need enough ink to keep up with demand of the students to create digital art, digital show and tells, classmate digital collages, and special projects. Currently, we have no supplies for making these activities, and our school district has decided not to buy ink for classrooms anymore.
Having ink and Elmer's glue will give the students more opportunities to learn hands-on by following directions, creating, and printing their completed projects to share with family and friends.
It would be more effective to have a laminating pouches to protect their art and activities throughout the year. With this donation, the students and I will be able to create resources that can be used for many years to come.
