Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Help my visual learners! My students are reading at a variety of different levels. All of my students benefit from visuals. A document camera would allow me to present all of the crucial information my students need to learn in a visual format.
My second grade inclusion class consists of fourteen students with and without special needs.
This public elementary school is located in a overpopulated city in New Jersey. Most of my students lack a strong support system at home and need to get the best learning experiences each day at school. A lot of my students become frustrated throughout the day learning second grade material. They are all eager to learn new things but sometimes struggle visualizing what is being said to them. My class is my second family and I would love to know that I am doing everything I can to help them succeed. I don't feel that I am providing them with the much needed support that they need because of the lack of funding provided from this district.
My Project
The first time I saw an Elmo (a document camera) in action, my mind was flooded with ideas about how I could use it in my classroom!!!!!! Today, document cameras use electronic cameras to capture documents, books, and photos then use high-intensity lights and lenses to display them on-screen. A document camera is the new overhead projector. It would magnify our modeled writing, shared writing, and math manipulative's as well. This also is helpful to the environment because it eliminates the use of making unnecessary copies. What a difference from learning years ago. Students have the opportunity to visualize all of the crucial information taught to them in the classroom.
A document camera is a wonderful piece of equipment.
It would be used everyday in every subject area. My students would be visually presented with all of the crucial subject matter that they need. This way of teaching is not our future. It is now! Please help me teach my class to the very best of my ability. Please allow my students to see the visions that their very visual minds crave.
