My Students

The majority of my students come from low-income earning families. They benefit most from being able to learn in an environment that is not only middle school appropriate, but also up-to-date with the latest technology to pique their interest and help them learn as efficiently as possible. My students benefit greatly from hands-on lessons and working in groups. Their group work typically involves technological collaboration that increases student knowledge base and development.

My students learn best when they are provided with materials that highly motivate them to succeed and work through real-world problem-based challenges.

My Project

When teaching geometry it is difficult for students to understand scale without actually being able to travel due to the pandemic. Having a virtual reality headset in class would be beneficial for my students, so students could virtually travel to different places around the world to find geometric structures. Students will be able to create scale models of different landmarks and then compare those models to the actual thing. When students are able to see meaning and purpose behind concepts, it will not only motivate them, but also help them learn even more.

Being able to travel virtually will allow students to see different landmarks like the pyramids or the pentagon and understand how scale models work.

The students that I have taught have had very few field trips over the past two years. They miss learning on location. Having this headset will allow my students to learn on location again and as much as they would like.
