My school is a public charter school providing students (learners) in grades 6-8 a hands-on STEAM, aerospace-focused and project-based curriculum. We are the first school in the nation to be located right at an airport in Englewood, Colorado. Our learners come from all over the Denver area, from Franktown to Aurora to Arvada and beyond. This diversity brings different perspectives to our classrooms. Some of our learners have been homeschooled and some are just looking for a different type of school and have found their home at CSA!
Our learners are creative thinkers and very excited about learning!
Our curriculum focuses on core academic competencies, in addition to key focus areas that will prepare learners for promising careers in aerospace and technology. I will be team teaching with the science teacher to provide this PE elective in addition to teaching Exploratory/STEAM.
My Project
My learners have expressed what they would like to do while virtual and admit that it is hard to stay focused and engaged through hours of ZOOM calls each day. Using technology to learn in a fun way is our focus now.
My learners asked for Digital Escape Rooms!
I can differentiate STEM content tied to their other core content classes using TPT resources digitally and engage them at the same time. TPT escape rooms are already created and will allow me to spend more time adjusting and supporting learners instead of creating them from scratch. Student engagement will promote learning as well as review of content standards with these resources.
Thanks for making the digital world a bit easier for all!
