I teach Spanish at the elementary level to approximately 600 students in grades K-5. Each class has Spanish between 2-3 times per week in their classrooms. Each year I pick a new Spanish speaking country to focus on so that by the end of grade school each student has been exposed to six different regions of Spanish speaking cultures. This year our focus will be on Mexico as it is the second year of our program. Included in this proposal is a variety of books, both fiction and nonfiction that center around Mexico. Books are a great tool for Spanish instruction because they allow the language to be learned in context and exposes students to a different culture than their own. Thank you for considering the funding of this proposal.
