Virtual Teaching Works When Thinking Out of the Box!

Help me give my students an Apple-12.9 inch IPad Pro and Slim Stylus to facilitate using the pencil for math concepts and other visuals.

My Students

I love these kids because they are fighters. I am from a very similar background. They are facing some very challenging situations but they come in every day and give me all they have for that day! I love the fact that they have taken their situations and used it as fuel to become the best they can be. I often tell them that they are their own future. If they believe they can do it that is the beginning of greatness. Some are not there yet but, I believe they will forever see themselves as survivors and not victims. They believe in me just as much as I believe in them! What an honor! The first week of school I had a student meet with one of our counselors to create a video about me that went into the virtual newsletter. Another student surprised me with a Google Slide thank you this week during the class meeting. They are priceless and loved!

My Project

During this virtual learning time, students need to have various learning opportunities. In the classroom, they have various opportunities using manipulatives, the Promethean board, other visuals, and games to help them be successful. In virtual this is not possible so, instruction has to be attainable in a different way and we have to think out of the box. The iPad and pen will help me with planning new and creative ways, model different strategies, and take notes when students are responding and I am observing. I want to stay connected and not worry about the technology provided crashing or disconnecting.
