Help me give my students a virtual STEAM Lab. A tripod, command clip, tacks, markers, pens, glue sticks and laminating pouches are needed to present a virtual class for our recorded hands on activities.
I have 750 students (PK-3rd) from a very diverse background. I normally get to see everyone once a week in the STEAM Lab. And every single one is so eager to find out what our STEAM challenge will be for the week. Students are challenged to think like an engineer to problem solve using strategies, being open to others idea and collaborating while working in a team. Our STEAM challenge is hands-on and requires creativity and thinking outside box. Being a Title 1 school many of the students receive free or reduced lunch.
My Project
Help me optimize my virtual STEAM lab classroom so my students can stay engaged from a distance. With the pandemic our lessons are now recorded and streamed on school platforms. A tripod would help with quality videos that is not shaky and at a wider view. Basic class supplies are needed for lesson presentation at our virtual lab (my home) due to the school campus being closed. Command clips, push pins and tacks will allow me to present printed images or STEAM content behind me for our lessons. Markers, pens and glue sticks are supplies needed to be able to present the hands-on activities I am recording for the students – Our school campus is closed so I cannot get ahold of my basic supplies. Laminating pouches will be as a small whiteboard for our virtual class as well as to prepping engineering visuals, coding maps & group step by step tutorials.
All of these items will assist me in facilitating distance learning STEAM lessons during this challenging time for our students.
Items will be continued to be used in our tradition classroom this Fall when we all return back to a normal! I can’t wait to see my students face to face again!
