Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
All of the students in my school come from a very impoverished neighborhood in Dallas. Ninety-eight percent receive free lunch. “Our kids will have jobs that do not currently exist.” The question is, “How do we prepare them for these new jobs?”
This project will provide opportunities for students to work on cooperative multimedia projects during an afterschool Video Creative Club led by KES students in grades 2nd through 5th.
Our students will research, produce, edit and showcase videos that will bring to life STEM subject matter from either school initiatives or societal needs. Students will also learn about virtual videography techniques, which is in high demand as witnessed with distance learning. With the use of innovative technology tools such as iPads, drones, virtual meeting platforms and video software programs, students will incorporate STEAM TEKS, inclusive of the “art of videography,” to create magnificent curriculum-aligned projects.
My Project
Our students at elementary level help expose them to the skills of collaboration, and communication by solving problems with the use of video creation and dissemination. By offering these 21st-century technology tools to some of the youngest scholars, it will help open doors for innovative careers of today, tomorrow and beyond! Give a kid state-of-the-art tools with guidance, and watch them build extraordinary products because of their vibrant imaginations!. One creative video project every 6 weeks per collaborative group is our goal. The after school club will publish the Video Creative Projects on our elementary school’s website, Google Classroom for our teachers, and on distance education sites.
