My students are creative and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects, and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things in order to grow both personally and academically.
Curious, enthusiastic, and creative; my students are eager to immerse themselves in any kind of challenge.
My students are engaged in creative, complex tasks and are encouraged to think like inventors. Kinesthetic learners, spatial learners, and logical learners all love exploring the different possibilities when given hands-on learning. My students will have opportunities to discover, construct, test, and explore using divergent, “outside the box” thinking.
My Project
The Oculus is a fantastic showcase of the power of VR as a medium for immersive, hands-on learning.
Game-based learning is an engaging and effective way to teach students.
Economic Literacy:
Job Simulator is a downloadable virtual reality simulation game. Players are given a chance to explore four kinds of jobs: mechanic, chef, office worker, and store clerk. Through this simulation, we can discuss if any of the jobs in Job Simulator seem like they might be fun in the real world? Would you rather do physical work or spend your days on a computer? Do you want a job where you're working as part of a team or dealing with customers or one that has you working alone? This simulation can be especially useful for teaching students how to manage money because it empowers them to learn from their own decisions.
Applied Science:
There are 12 fully explorable habitats ranging from coral reefs to arctic waters, the Ocean Rift simulation lets learners explore and interact with dolphins, sharks, sea lions, and more, guided by more than 45 information points with factual information on each habitat and its inhabitants.
Going along with our Solar System unit, students will be able to use this device to virtually float through space in zero-gravity while simultaneously learning all about the work that real NASA astronauts do through hands-on objectives and informative videos and images. This device features a full recreation of our solar system, two hours of narrated, fact-checked guided tours, and even a zero-gravity spacewalk mode.
