Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

The school is located in a low-income area where over 90% of the students are on free or reduced-price lunch. Buying supplies for 6 classes and multiple students can be a burden on the families. Students often feel embarrassed and do not come to school because they do not have the proper materials for learning. Middle school can be difficult enough, and I would like the students to have one less thing to worry about. Having school supplies will prepare the students for learning and achieving their educational goals.

My Project

My students are in need of a laptop to enhance our virtual science lessons with current news and technology. It's vital for students to remain engaged and active throughout the learning process. Since we have been out of school since March my students have expressed that they miss conducting science labs. The science labs were a way that my students were given a hands on experience.

Now that we are learning remotely I want to be able to provide my students with a visual experience by watching me do the labs on the computer.

I can walk them through step by step. This will give them a really close experience to what we do in school. This laptop will also be used for me to show my students how to take notes in our science class.
