My students are eager to take on new and exciting ways to approach basic math concepts. The use of the right materials combined with the perfect amount of technology can further develop students' minds and their education, and provide a more fulfilling educational experience.
"The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically.
Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education." Dr. Martin Luther King
My students have the intelligence. They have character. I want to help them think more critically and intensively, so they can get the most out of their education. The students at my school are very diverse in both race and socioeconomic backgrounds. The school district has minimal funds to provide the necessary items. It would be a huge help to be able to provide the students with advanced learning materials.
Drones can be used to teach proportional relationships, for example, as well as teaching measurement and difficult numbers in scientific notation. It will give students a new perspective and an opportunity to see math at work, paving the way for heightened interest in the subject.
What better way to raise interest in math than to provide the modern technology that students love and apply it to curriculum objectives!
Virtual Reality makes one of the most disliked type of problems, story problems, come to life in a way that wakes up students' minds. Using apps available for the VR, kids can view math in a whole new light.
