This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are absolutely full of energy! They get excited when they learn something new and really shine whenever they break through a learning barrier that was holding them back.

I do my best to engage their curiosity as much as I can as they are always asking questions about lessons diving deeper into the subjects, but their school stamina has fallen dramatically and all they want to do is fidget in their chairs and I want to put that energy and curiosity to use.

My Project

I love using technology and video games in my classroom and I am always trying to find fun ways to bring it into my classroom such as using Mario Kart to teach decimals. There are so many amazing things that virtual reality has to offer students! It lets them explore places and things that they have never seen before in a whole new way.

Students will explore space, walk with dinosaurs, examine the human body, and so much more!

We will be using the Oculus in order to do a variety of educational experiences through virtual reality and use them to add a new layer of depth and understanding to things they have already learned about. Instead of hearing about the Apollo moon landing, they will experience it. They won't just learn about the other planets, they will get close and personal with them feeling as though they were astronauts themselves!

Obviously, it would be too expensive to have a class set of headsets so the Chromecast will allow us to watch what the student with the headset is viewing through our projector.
