Our governor closed school statewide on March 13 through the end of the school year. Students are completing online work either on their own device or a district provided chrome book. Students do not have guaranteed access to books at home since the public libraries are closed.
My students are learning from home for the rest of the school year and missing out on engaging read alouds in the classroom. The public libraries in our city have also closed, so students do not have access to check out books and bring to their homes.
This project will provide sixteen picture books for me to record reading aloud and share with my students, so that they can continue to learn through read alouds while they are home and learning virtually.
Once our school reopens the books will be placed in my classroom library and I can continue to use them as read alouds with future classes.
