Help me give my students books to read at home while living in this pandemic. We will read them together and discuss like when we were in school .

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students love to learn, create and read. School was a place where they discussed ideas connected with friends and had fun! With this closure, their life has been interrupted and we have had to be creative about how we all connect.
It is grand to say that we will connect with our students through the internet, but the DIGITAL DIVIDE is very deep in my school community.
They live in communities where everyone has to work to pay rent. Many parents have lost their jobs and paying for internet connection is not a priority.
We still need to learn and keep everyones spirits up! One of their favorite things to do still is to listen to read alouds.
My Project
The books I have selected will be read by students at home while we read virtually too. These books will serve as discussion starters and serve as way for us to connect. Students will be able to use their books to follow the story as I read or to read on their own.
We will develop vocabulary, create projects and share a common language.
Students will respond to questions and give their opinions on themes and issues brought up in the novels. We will feel successful because read them together.
