Art is essential to the well-being of many of the students I teach.
My classroom is a haven for them; they enjoy the relaxed air and the changing materials.
Together, we create a lot of amazing artwork that expresses feelings, builds skills, and fosters camaraderie. The students in my school are eager to learn new skills and ideas. They are very creative and highly engaged learners. They thrive on new information, materials, and concepts. They push the boundaries of their art education as far as they can. They accept new challenges with aplomb!
My school has a wide variety of students. Many languages are spoken in our district and our school reflects that diversity. Many students are from divorced homes. Some have special needs. We are a McKinney-Vento Receiving School as well, which means a percentage of our students are homeless.
One thing that is common to every child here, however, is an eagerness to be the best artists and students that they can be. I am continuously inspired by their insights and interpretations, and the work that my students are doing is of a very high caliber.
My Project
The TV and stand I'm requesting will replace the very old projector that I've struggled with for years. I would like to be able to present my lessons using both posters (which are harder and harder to come by) and digital images (which are ubiquitous) in order to teach my art lessons. This would also give me the opportunity to make videos of techniques to have on a loop for students to refer to. I would also get to translate my lessons ahead of time for all my English Language Learners. My room doesn't have shades, so another projector is out of the question. The TV seems like the right answer to my technology problems!
I design lessons to be interactive, so having the TV to show digital images, videos of artists working, and virtual tours of museums all over the world will enhance my students' learning.
My students would get to see interactive tours of the worlds' great museums, such as the Met, the MFA, the Louvre, and the Victoria and Albert. Students would also get to tour some of the most incredible historic sites in the world such as the Acropolis, the Pyramids, and Angkor Watt. I'd love to bring them on these virtual tours as a way to bring art history to life in my classroom.
