Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My self-contained classroom consists of amazing, unique, loving, energetic, little humans! They are vibrant and brave, active and creative! My students are diagnosed with Autism, Downs Syndrome, ADHD and OCD. Some are verbal, some are non-verbal. All of my students have a deficit in communication skills, social skills and struggle to process sensory information.
Our virtual classroom is bare and very VERY challenging as our supplies are extremely limited.
Our needs are high while funding is low. We reside in a Title I school which means there is no funding coming in for supplies.
My students deserve the very best and at the very least, deserve the bare minimum which are necessary to help them self-regulate, no stress and provide important sensory stimulation.
My Project
Please help me give my students material for our Literacy learning. Our virtual classroom is extremely limited and materials are not provided for us. My students are eager to learn and I am eager to teach them - we really need help in gaining needed materials to help them with distance learning.
The virtual classroom can be created in a very effective, multi-modal way and be a therapeutic environment for students with disabilities.
Visuals are EXTREMELY important to have access to for ALL of my students to help guide their literacy learning. My students require a multi-modal approach to learning in order to gain the necessary skills of their same age, general education peers.
