I am an elementary teacher in a large K-5 elementary school in a high-poverty, urban school district. We have over 850 students. They have many challenges, but they look forward to school being a stable and consistent part of their lives. We are starting our school year 100% virtual. So we are making an extra effort to stay connected and make our students feel safe.
Most of my students absolutely love working with the various learning tools we have in our classroom; however, I am now teaching virtually.
Many, regardless of the grade level, look forward to coming to computer class. I hope to recreate as much of our computer lab environment as possible, and that includes providing fun, yet challenging and stimulating lessons.
This school year has been quite unique. All of our classwork has to be accessible through the Google Classroom teaching platform. Teachers Pay Teachers is a special resource that has been created by teachers to help teachers. It allows me to purchase lessons that include forms and activities that are already Google-based and will easily transfer into my Google Classroom. This is particularly helpful since many of my previous lessons were not transferrable into the Google Classroom platform.
It is very likely that our entire school year may be 100% virtual.
Many of my students are working in Google Classroom for the first time. They are learning how to navigate Google Docs, Google Forms, and Google Slides. Teachers Pay Teachers offers teachers access to fun, yet challenging lessons covering all of the various Google-based applications. This will help tremendously with the unexpected learning transition that both students and teachers must make.
