All of the students that will benefit from this project participate in a therapeutic, self-contained, special education program. Our students receive services due to social, emotional, and behavioral issues. These students are all identified as high risk due to their ongoing history of disengagement from school based on trauma, truancy, academic barriers, and behavioral needs.
The students in the program struggle with their motivation and engagement in school due to a history of academic and behavioral difficulties.
These students need explicit and extensive support in learning how to navigate their education using digital learning platforms.With the IXL program they will receive direct instruction and academic intervention support customized to their individual learning needs.
Our students have been identified as high risk in terms of graduation rates, access to and success within post-secondary education and/or training programs, and high rates of incarceration. Access to increased academic support will promote student success in all of the core content areas through the use of the IXL program.
IXL is a personalized learning experience which allows me to differentiate the curriculum and intervention materials that each student has access to. With this license students will have a full year's access to materials to offer them support in math, language arts, science, and social studies.
Every student in the RISE Academy at Hartford Public High School will benefit from the incorporation of IXL into their learning plan.
Students will be able to access this content from school or at home. All of the work for each subject area is differentiated to meet individual learner's needs. Teachers can also access learning reports which specify areas in which the student has excelled and where more practice and instruction is needed. These reports are perfect for progress monitoring and PPT meetings.
