This is my second year teaching 5th grade and I have loved every minute of it! As fifth graders, my students play a big role in our school community.
The younger students look to them as role models and that’s exactly what this amazing group of 10-11 year olds are.
They are extremely self motivated and work hard to grow both socially and academically. Our classroom community encourages mistakes and fosters growth mindsets. I'm lucky to be able to work with such a loving and compassionate group of kids.
My students have truly surpassed my expectations and continue to go above and beyond each and every day. They have worked so hard this year to set goals and create plans in order to meet those goals. My kids strive to be the best version of themselves that they can possibly be. They know that every day they have the power to impact others and each day they make a conscious choice to leave people better than how they found them. Whether that's by sharing a smile, lending a hand to someone in need, giving compliments or shout outs, or simply offering to listen. My students have the biggest hearts.
My Project
Covid-19 has had a HUGE impact on communities everywhere, causing all daily routines, events, and places of business to halt in its tracks.
Schools were among some of the first places of business to shut down in efforts to stop the spread of this highly contagious virus.
School boards across the country are implementing NTI (Non-Traditional Instructional) learning. Starting April 7th my students will be expected to be participating in virtual learning. My students and I have worked hard to determine how we plan to do this and what we want our virtual classroom to look like.
Fifth grade is a key transition period, meaning that once this school year ends my students will be transitioning out of elementary school and into middle school. As of right now we don't know when exactly we will be able to meet in person again or if we will be able to. It is EXTREMELY important for us to be able to continue our learning virtually to insure that my students will be ready for middle school.
I currently have 15 students of my 28 that are in need of technology. These 15 Chromebooks will be mailed to my kids that need them in order to have a successful virtual learning experience.
Your donation will even the playing field for low-income students and allow them to further their learning in math, reading, social studies, writing, and science. This will ultimately keep them from falling behind. This project would give my students access to the materials they need in order to help prepare them for their transition to middle school.
