This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am fortunate enough to work with the Head Start early learning initiative program. Some of these students have never been exposed to formal education. The children come from low-income families who need to meet specific criteria to be accepted. These children are in need of hands-on experiences that will help give them a great foundation for their educational path. As a teacher, it is my responsibility to make learning fun and engaging. With your help, I can open up a world of learning that these children could only hope for.
My school is a public elementary school located in Florida.
There are approximately 520 students that are enrolled at the school and identify primarily as Black, non-Hispanic, Hispanic, and multiracial. Twelve percent of the school's students are limited in English proficiency. Ninety-eight percent of the 520 students here get free or reduced-price lunch.
My Project
In the virtual environment, it is important that the students can see me and I can see them. If I am unable to see them, I have no way of asking deeper questions when I am sharing my screen with instructional content. These items will help my students learn as well as be able to communicate with me while I show them lessons. With virtual learning continuing, I am in need of materials to make the virtual learning environment more efficient. We have experienced many downfalls and hiccups utilizing the virtual environment provided by the school districts. My students are in need of equipment that will help streamline the virtual learning environment.
The SideTrak as well as the wireless keyboard and mouse will help in the virtual learning environment to allow me to see all of my students while also screen sharing the instructional content.
The laptop stand will also allow my students to have the best view of me while at home. This has been a real problem that we have encountered throughout this experience.
