Two years ago our district opened its very first self-contained ASD classroom. In the past, our students were bused to nearby districts in order to meet their needs. Our program started from scratch and has quadrupled in size. When our program first opened we serviced seven kindergarten children, and this year we will service 28 students ranging from K-8th grade. We set a great foundation and will continue to build a program that meets the needs of every one of our students.
Our students are an amazing group; each one brings their own personality and strengths to our program.
Every day is an adventure filled with laughter and progress!
Our students need a supportive, structured setting that meets their individual sensory needs in order to be successful in a classroom setting. Our goal is to provide them with the skills and supports that would enable them to participate in activities with their peers in a general education setting.
My Project
Every new school year brings new challenges; this year is no different. Due to Covid-19 all of our classes are starting the year virtually. Virtual learning is difficult in the best of situations and even tougher for our students with disabilities.
Our students learn best through hands on materials.
Help us to provide hands on materials to all of our students to have at their homes. If we are able to provide hands on materials to our students they will be more engaged in virtual classroom activities with their peers.
